Primrose Farm strives to be a welcoming environment to visitors of all ages and abilities.

Accessibility of Historic Structures

Many of the buildings on-site are handicap accessible including the main dairy barn, threshing floor/upper barn and summer kitchen. Some structures do have original stoops and steps that make them less accessible. These include the chicken coop and sheep house. Visitors with mobility concerns can still see the animals in the adjoining pastures and lots.

Accessibility of Trails and Walkways

The farmyard, trails and walkways are almost all packed gravel, dirt and/or grass. Many wheelchair users and others with mobility issues have been able to navigate the surfaces without issue; however, we highly recommend that anyone with concerns about accessibility have one or more able-bodied adults to assist them while touring.

Handicap Parking & Facilities

There are designated handicap parking spaces at the garden plots, pavilion and main farm parking. We also have handicap accessible vault toilets at the farm that are open all year long.

Program Accommodations

Primrose farmers enjoy teaching visitors of all ages, ethnicities and abilities. We have experience crafting custom programs for ESL, autistic, blind and other special needs groups. Please contact us directly at 630-513-4370 to request a custom program.

As part of the St. Charles Park District, Primrose partners with Fox Valley Special Recreation Association (FVSRA) to ensure program participants with special needs get the assistance they require. Please note, if you require special accommodations, such as a physical assistance, to participate in a program, please indicate your needs on the registration form completed at the time of registration or by notifying staff at 630-513-4370 at least two weeks in advance of any start date.
